National Version Alignment Almost Done!

I spent the evening polishing up the alignment of the national version of Attack of the Chicken Nugget Man over dinner at The Flying Biscuit in Raleigh, NC.  I used to live in midtown Atlanta and often walked to The Flying Biscuit for brunch.  Tonight, I had the fried green tomatoes and cajun shrimp jambalaya using one of my Living Social vouchers ($10 for a $20 meal)!

I managed to make major progress on the alignment despite the fact that two women at a nearby table were testing out various (annoying) cell phone ringtones at painfully loud volume.  I've made some serious changes to the text to accommodate the National Common Core State Standards.  For the most part, those wavy black boxes are gone and the Knowledge Nuggets are almost entirely math concepts.  I've kept the silly fill in the bubble test questions that I put in the latest North Carolina version, but I obviously had to rewrite them to fit the standards.  The new book will be published in a slightly larger, 8.5 x 8.5 inch format.

Stay tuned for pictures from the Moonbeam Children's Book Awards Ceremony in Traverse City, Michigan this weekend. It will be my first trip to Michigan!
